Northern Dog

Since launching in 2024, Northern Dog has quickly become a trusted pet care provider in North Bay and surrounding areas. Through The Business Centre Nipissing Parry Sound, we had the opportunity to mentor owner Patrick Sacher through the Business Development Program, Starter Company Plus, where he was a successful grant recipient. Patrick identified a growing demand for safe, structured, and enriching alternatives to traditional doggy daycare and built Northern Dog around balanced physical activity, outdoor exploration, and insured, reliable care.

Northern Dog offers adventure hikes, structured solo walks, drop-in visits, and house sitting, with a strong focus on consistency and personalized service. Patrick’s community-first mindset sets the business apart. By forming partnerships with local trainers, veterinarians, shelters, and rescues, and by going above and beyond for clients through thoughtful touches like photo updates and reliable pick-up and drop-off, Northern Dog has become known as much for trust and connection as for quality pet care.

With support from the Starter Company Plus grant, Patrick invested in equipment, training, and marketing to support sustainable growth. Today, Northern Dog maintains a 5-star Google reputation and serves more than 70 active clients, with continued growth through referrals and community engagement. We are proud to have supported Patrick’s journey and to see Northern Dog thriving as a strong example of local entrepreneurship in our region.
